>Use the same keyplate as the main knitting or go down one size.
Work about 6 rows in waste yarn ending COR.
Join in the main yarn, doing a closed edge cast on and knit the amount of rows needed for the rib.
Put the latch too into the first stitch above the waste yarn (which is the main yarn and just above the closed edge cast on) in the second stitch from the edge.
Go up to the needle at the top of that row of stitches and drop the stitch, letting it run right down to the latch tool.
Latch up the vertical row of stitches in the usual way.
Repeat across the width of the welt in the rquired order: 2×1, 2×2, 1×1, 3×1 etc.
The sample was knitted on the Bond using DK yarn and the old keyplate 2.
