Note: Read ALL these instructions thoroughly BEFORE starting to knit. There may be sections where there are two shapings to work at the same time (such as necklines or waist shaping). The pattern may call for more needles than you have on your machine.

NOTE: At most, 166 needles are required to make the body of this garment; but the collar/hood needs 198 needles.

BACK:
1. Cast on 166 sts in MY, using TD1 and closed edge method. Work in 1×1 rib for 36 rows. COR.
2. Change to TD4 and Stocking stitch, RC000. Work 154 rows.
3. Cap sleeves. Mark this row at both ends for cap sleeves. Work 106 rows (260 rows total).
4. Shape neck. COR. Thread center 68 sts to WY. 49 sts each side.
5. Right neck. LH needles in HP. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 6 times, until 43 sts remain. Work 2 rows even. Total 268 rows.
6. Cut yarn. Work 6 rows WY. Place sts in HP.
7. Left neck. COL. Work as for right neck, reversing shapings.

FRONT:
1-2 Follow steps 1 and 2 as for back. COR.
3. Armhole. Mark this row at both ends for cap sleeve. Work 72 rows ( 226 rows total).
4. Shape neck. COR. Thread center 50 sts to WY. 58 sts each side.
5. Right neck. LH needles in HP. Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 15 times, until 43 sts remain. Work 27 rows even. Total 268 rows.
6. Cut yarn, leaving a 31.0 ins end. Work 6 rows WY. Place sts in HP.
7. Left neck. COL. Work as for right neck, reversing shapings.

LEFT SHOULDER SEAM:
1. Graft shoulder seam on 43 sts.

BALLET FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:
1. Bring out 198 needles to HP. With wrong side of work facing, rehang 7 sts from right back neck edge, 68 sts from back neck holder, 7 sts from left back neck edge, 33 sts from left front neck edge, 50 sts from front neck holder and 33 sts from right front neck edge. Hang weights. Push needles to FWP, latches open. Use TD1 with COR.
2. Work 16 rows. Convert to 1×1 rib. Cast off loosely.

RIGHT SHOULDER SEAM:
1. As for left shoulder seam.

RIGHT SHOULDER SEAM:
— as for left shoulder seam.

CAP SLEEVE RIBBING:
1. With wrong side of work facing, pick up sts between armhole markers onto 163 needles, leaving every other needle in NWP. Hang weights.
2. Knit 1 row using TD4. Change to TD1 and knit 16 rows.
3. Convert to 1×1 rib using latchet tool. Cast off loosely.

FINISHING:
1. Sew side seams. Sew any remaining seams.
2. Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
